Area Police
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior official said the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
